In India, Daughters Have Big Family Problems with Inheritance
Gagandeep Kaur wrote about women and inheritance rights in India in an article in Women’s eNews on 2nd May 2016.
She said that the: “… reluctance to assert her property rights is a major cultural issue here. That’s become clear with the popularity of “Daughter by Court Order,” a novel by Ratna Vira in which the heroine fights for her property rights against the wishes of her family, particularly her mother. The author has sold the movie rights and the book has been republished several times since its initial publication in 2014.”
